TRS 380A The Challenge of Religious Pluralism in the American Experience

This is a thematic and interdisciplinary course focused on religious pluralism and diversity in the American context. Specific topics include the encounter of European and indigenous traditions, Protestant/Catholic/Mormon/Jew interfaith conflict, "cult" controversies over new religious movements, the de-Europeanization of American Christianity, Islam and new immigrant religions, interfaith marriage, and social and behavioral science research on religious pluralism and diversity.
