MATH 435 Computational Methods in Mathematics and Statistics

Computational, numerical, and visualization methods in Mathematics and Statistics will be the major theme of this course with emphasis on the usage of a programming language. Relevant topics may include: Fourier Transforms and Fast Fourier Transforms, Euler's Method and Method of Frobenius for ODEs, Finite Element Method and Spectral Method for PDEs; Exploratory data analysis, Simulation of random variables and Monte Carlo methods, Estimation, Bootstrap, and Bayesian methods.
