EDUC 582 Disciplinary Instructional Strategies for Secondary Education
The course focuses on current theory and research related to effective instruction in secondary classroom settings to facilitate student comprehension and engagement. Candidates consider a variety of instructional strategies for reading, writing, speaking and listening used in designing lesson plans and activities in secondary classrooms for various disciplines. The course is taken concurrently with a Practicum Field Experience of 20 hours allowing candidates to apply the course concepts to observations of instructional strategies in a classroom context. Intended for Teacher Education majors and minors, Educational Studies majors. Prerequisites: EDUC 386/586
