PSY 444 Developmental Neuroscience

This course examines the biological and external processes that form the human brain and shape a person's experiences. Using a cognitive neuroscience perspective, the course explores the normal development of the person from before birth through adolescence with regards to perception, attention, language, learning, memory, executive function, emotion, and social cognition. Brain structures and functions that support these processes, such as neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, and critical periods are considered, as are the implications of culture and the social context.
