Associate’s Degrees

The MSPS Associate’s degrees are designed for students who are just beginning their academic careers or who need an Associate’s degree to meet the requirements for their desired profession. The Associate’s degrees are founded in the liberal arts with in-depth exposure to their respective curricula.

 

Associate of Arts in General Studies

Requirements for the degree can be found at General Studies - Associate of Arts (A.A.)

The Associate of Arts in General Studies is designed for working professionals who are working toward transfer into a bachelor’s degree program or who are seeking an academic credential appropriate for an entry-level job. The program is designed to allow an AA graduate to transition into the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Classes are offered both on our main campus and at the Alexandria location.

 

Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies

Requirements for the degree can be found at Paralegal Studies - Associate of Arts (A.A.)

The primary concern of a paralegal education program is to develop professional competence, which requires both general education and legal specialty course work. The program includes 24 credits of core liberal arts requirements, 27 credits of core law courses, and 12 credits of track-specific electives. Students can focus their legal specialty course work in one of two tracks: General Practice or Litigation Practice. All students will be required to participate in a legal internship during their last year in the program. The Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies (A.A.P.S.) courses are offered both on our main campus and at the Alexandria location.

Paralegal Studies Certificate and Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies Internship Requirement

As a requirement of the Paralegal Studies Certificate and the Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies students must successfully complete a 90-hour culminating internship. The internship must afford opportunities that utilize the core competencies of the Paralegal Studies program and help to prepare the student for a career as a paralegal. Students must complete satisfactory entry level paralegal work in a legal environment, such as a law office, corporate counsel office, government agency, judicial setting, or other setting where paralegal skills are utilized.

 

Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education

Requirements for the degree can be found at Early Childhood Education - Associate of Arts (A.A.)

The Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education program is designed for working professionals in the field of Infant/Toddler/Early Childhood Education. Such professionals generally teach young children from infancy through third grade.

The coursework is designed to help students develop both the theoretical foundation and the practical skills required for teachers to make a positive impact in the lives of children under their charge.

 

Associate of Science in Human Services

Requirements for the degree can be found at Human Services - Associate of Science (A.S.)

The Associate of Science in Human Services Administration program is designed to provide adult students with the practical industry knowledge of the human services field grounded in Catholic University’s liberal arts core. Human service careers include both working directly with clients and administering/managing the systems and processes of human service providers.

 

Associate of Science in Information Technology

Requirements for the degree can be found at Information Technology - Associate of Science (A.S.)

The Associate of Arts in Information Technology is designed for working professionals who are seeking an entry-level job in information technology or who work in that field but need to develop appropriate academic credentials. The program is designed to allow an AS graduate to transition into the Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology Program in the Metropolitan School of Professional Studies. Classes for the A.S.I.T. degree program are offered both on our main campus and at the Alexandria location.

 

Associate of Science in Management

Requirements for the major can be found at Management - Associate of Science (A.S.)

The Associate of Science in Management is designed for working professionals who seek an entry-level job in management in business or government, or who already work in the field but need to develop appropriate academic credentials. The program is designed to allow an AS graduate to transition into the Bachelor of Arts in Management Program in the Metropolitan School of Professional Studies. The courses for this degree program are offered both on our main campus and at the Alexandria location.
