PHIL 315 Philosophy of Language

A philosophical inquiry into the nature and function of language. Studies classical, medieval, and modern philosophers; discusses topics such as meaning, reference, and truth. Enduring Questions addressed: What does it mean to know? What and how much can we know? Area II. Prerequisites: 201 and 202, or 211 and 212, or equivalent.
