HIST 347 Introduction to American Cinema
This course will examine the history of film in America, tracking the evolution of Hollywood as a place and a myth, exploring different genres of film (comedy, drama, historical, action, satirical, etc.) and looking at the history of the twentieth-century through the medium of film. This course will look into distinctively American elements in American film, and at the same time take into account the international nature of film production and distribution.
