CMGT 526 Leadership and Ethics
Leaders lead - not just in their area of expertise, but in setting the moral and ethical tone for their organization, team, and/or community. Integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness are just a few of the attributes leaders are expected to demonstrate which not only set an example, but establish a standard for behavior. The purpose of this course is to prepare current and future leaders to respond to ethically challenging leadership situations. This goal of this course is to enable students to identify ethical issues, analyze the theoretical and practical complexity of ethically challenging circumstances, and derive possible resolutions.
Through assigned readings and class discussions, students will be introduced to ethical theories and then challenged to apply theory to practice in real-life and adapted scenarios. Students will be expected to demonstrate engagement with the topic and texts through class participation, blog posts, and papers.
