ANTH 508 Anthropology, Migration, and Transnationalism: Ethnograpy and Policy

This course focuses on the impact of globalization on the migration movements of Salvadorans and Hondurans to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Drawing on ethnographic work, policies, social networks and adaptations will be examined. Strategies used by these Central American immigrants to re-build personal and collective identities will address key factors including class, age, and gender. Theoretical and practical implications considered.
