FREN 328 Virtuous Minds from the Sun King to the Enlightenment
This course offers an introduction to the art, literature, history, and culture of pre-revolutionary France with a focus on the representation of virtue and the role that literature plays in teaching, policing, and rebelling against, the mores of Early Modern French society. Particular attention will be paid to writers who define the French canon, such as MoliËre, Racine, Corneille, Rousseau and many others.
