POL 545 Comparative Public Policy

The course explores aspects of the relationship between public policy and civil society in contemporary welfare states, with an emphasis on the impact of policy design and execution on the autonomy, capacity, and social capital of the family unit. In particular, the liberal and libertarian conceptions of the state are contrasted with a perspective of the family as a relational good.
