HIST 660 Era of the Civil War and Reconstruction
This colloquium explores the causes, course, and consequences of the
American Civil War. We will examine topics including: the politics of
pro- and anti-slavery and the sectional crisis of the 1850s; military
events and political affairs during the war; the experiences of
Americans on the battlefield and the home front; the destruction of
slavery; and the post-war reconstruction of the South and the nation.
